Larry Bird was my favorite player when I was in the 8th grade and didn't really understand the game of basketball there wasn't anybody guarding Bird is why he was hitting wide open shots there is no way I'll take Larry Bird over Scottie Pippin who is the greatest small forward of all times there is no debate Pippin has 6 Bird has 3 Bird had Kevin and Pippin had Jordan

Never mind that Magic hit the game winner just like he did 5 months prior to this which of course is similar. But the whole game was kinda the same as well. Both games the Celtics took command in the 3rd and got the leads to 16 in the Finals and I believe 13 here only to let it slip away. And just like the Finals the Celtics had a 6 point lead late in the game. Just heartbreaking as a Celtics fan

This is honestly the first time I watched either of these two teams play. Two of the best teams in the league. Celtics dominated for two and a half quarters (leading by as many as 20) and then LA made an amazing comeback. Then I remember just a week later they met again, this time out in LA and the Celtics came from behind to get even.

Between the team passing brilliance of 80's Boston, and the individual brilliance of young 80's Jordan, these are 2 distinctly different but equally fascinating examples of what made the NBA game so great to watch.

I went to the Celtics game vs Sonics earlier that year in Feb '86, the season Boston won the title. Bird had a strong triple-double in that one (31-15-11)! Walton a double-double. Wedman started for McHale that night, but I got to see him play LIVE in the 1987 NBA All-Star Game. And later in the 80's vs Seattle

Look at older games, before the three point shot became an institution, those teams back then, were still putting out scores that match or are better than today's leagues scores, plus there was more physical play. They knew how to play the game!!
